For several years I thought "Trial Techniques" by Thomas Mauet was so helpful in trial work that it was the only real book on the subject. How wrong I was. While I certainly am not selling my copy of Mauet's execellent book, Shane Read's "Winning At Trial" moved to the front of the line when I read it. Like his excellent "Winning at Deposition" this book should be one of the three books on any trial lawyers shelf. The other two are already named in this review. The book compresses years of learning from our mistakes into 424 pages of avoiding many of those mistakes with concise and practical advice. i recommend that in place of the next litigation seminar, anyone interested in courtroom effectiveness dedicate the time to this book - and keep on using it.

From cross-examination to closing this book is a must read. There are very few trial lawyers in the profession today, take this advice from a criminal prosecutor who is in the courtroom all the time--get this book and it will provide insight into subjects very few people can duplicate.
